Eat With Muslims First Dinner

Our first official dinner was Saturday January 14th. 15 people from different background came together. It was hosted by Bilan Aden. The stories came easy because everyone who came was determined to lean in and listen.

ONE CUP OF TEA September 22, 2017, Eat With Muslims joined hands in friendship with St. James Episcopal Church in Kent for a dinner and one act play called “One Cup Of Tea” This short play was written and performed by Reverend Joyce Barry Moore and Fathia Absie. The twenty minute act which started after dinner, was about two women neighbors of different faith who one day sit together to share a cup of tea. The candid conversation about what they thought was their differences brings them closer than they ever thought was true. Their characters Maryan and Cynthia asked the tough questions most people shy away from because we don’t want to offend one another.  At the end of the play, the two women embark on what seems to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

EAT WITH MUSLIMS DINNER HELD AT WHITE CENTER'S DUB SEA CAFE

Beautiful and diverse group of people came together Saturday October 14th.

I stand by you

February 4th, Eat With Muslims went to Portland, Oregon in order to highlight the story of Salma Ahmed who is a Philippine American and Muslim. As part of the story, we went to MET, Muslim Educational Technology of Portland, which cofounded by Salma Ahmed, her husband, Dr. Musud Ahmed, a highly respected heart Sergeant and other Muslims in the Portland area. While touring the facility, the man in ...this picture came and said to us, "My name is Mark Wyner, I am an American who loves all of my fellow American's no matter shade or creed. I wanted to bring you flowers and to let you know that I care about you and I stand with you as my neighbors. Do not worry, because there are so many of us that support you." He handed the flowers to Salma. When he left, the security guard told us that all the flowers on the front desk were brought by neighbors of the school. This was very emotional for me since I am an optimist who always likes to see the glass as half full. There's a lot of good that's coming out from Trumps divisive rhetoric and actions. American's always find a way to pull together when it counts. America is where the greatness of humanity shines the brightest, because America is the mother of every shade and creed in humanity.

NOTES FROM SOME OF THE ATTENDEES!

A stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet. ... Will Rogers

Thank you so very much for inviting us to share a meal and connect through storytelling last night. We had a wonderful time.  I feel so lucky to have met you guys. I am so grateful that you had the idea and created space to have conversation and connection by bringing people together through a meal. Lisa

Thank you for putting yourselves out there so visibly and for calling upon us to do new things and make bridges instead of walls.
Thank you for feeding us...body, heart and mind. Deborah

I was truly inspired by Saturday's dinner, and the food was fantastic too. Thank you for having us. We really enjoyed it. I think we all share similar values on making connections and friendships outside of our normal space. Sam

I want to thank you for a wonderful time last night at the “Eat with Muslims” Event.  I had some wonderful conversations. Marsh
